ヤグのボードにミーシンコーチのインタヴューが載っていた。

表題どおりのことを語っているのはもちろんだが、私が印象に残ったのは
ヤグとジェーニャのSLCオリンピックでの顛末について、分析した部分。

Q: why do you think Yagudin became an Olympic Champion? He was losing to Evgeny during that season and in the ISU rankings Yagudin was placed lower than Plushenko... But at the Olympics Alexei made a brilliant display, he did more than he could.

A: First of all, we must objectively confess, that Lyosha is exceptionally talented skater and a remarkable personality. There also were some subjective factors. I deeply analyzed the entire Olympic season and I think the turning point was the Good Will Games in Brisbane. Me and Zhenya Plushenko were very happy with our convincing victory there. At the same time, Yagudin was skating so inconsistently and nervously that he lost the second place to Michael Weiss. But this victory turned out to be a Pyrrhic one for Plushenko because it changed a lot in rivals' psychology. It made Yagudin to take a fresh look at himself and thanks to this he skated brilliantly at the Olympics.

あんたのフリープログラム公開先送りも影響大だろうが！と突っ込みたくなるが、
それは表面的なこと。この分析は私も概ね賛成だ。
ヤグはあそこでどん底に落ちたからこそ、GPFやオリンピックでの勝利があったのだと
私も思う。

正直言って、ヤグのオリンピックのフリーが6.0連発に値する演技だとは思わない。
だけど、こういうどん底から這い上がってきたヤグに6.0を「あげたくなる」
ジャッジたちの気持ちというのは、ホントによくわかる。
わかっちゃいけないのかもしれないが、やはりジャッジも人間。
最終的には人間的な泥臭い部分に動かされるんじゃないかな。
